History
Established
in 1957, MB Electric and Gas was founded by Ted Hulley, who
recognized the need for the distribution of Liquefied Petroleum
Gas (LPG), which at the time, was a new energy source to Southern
Africa.
MB
Electric and Gas not only marketed LPG but electrical equipment
as well. The company soon grew the LPG business and
the electrical division was later sold in 1977. The
company also had a change in management, when the son of the
founder, Errol Ekström took over as managing director.
By
the early 1980's, LPG had become a common source of energy
and the company found itself expanding into new markets, i.e.
gas equipment and appliances.
In
1991, Sean Ekström, the son of Errol Ekström, was appointed
managing director. It was also the year that industrial
gases were added to the company's stock portfolio.
By
1994, the Primagas name was registered and not only was the
company marketing and distributing gases, but now also entered
the welding market.
Primagas
has since become a household name in its area of distribution
and has endeavored to be the gas and equipment supplier of
choice.
We
have built lasting relationships with companies like Mica
Hardware, Sentra Supermarkets, Spur Steak Ranches, Wimpy,
Steers Fastfood etc. and have strived to provide all our dealerships
with high-quality products at competitive prices with on-going
after sales service and commitment.
